August 17, 2005
To All Kromet and Alumabrite Employees

I am pleased to announce that effective today, August 17, 2005, Ray Finnie, Randy Straka and I are the owners of Kromet and Alumabrite. I told you several months ago that this was potentially going to happen and after many days of due diligence and legal discussions, our purchase was concluded yesterday.

The three of us are excited about the opportunities that the companies have and our main goal to continue to grow the business from the foundation that has been created by the employees and previous owners. Ray and Randy bring many years of management and operational experience in manufacturing to our companies.

We have decided to split the responsibilities of managing the companies based on each of our experiences and ability to add value.
  • Ray will be President and have responsibility for sales and finance.

  • Randy will be Vice President, Operations and have responsibility for the two plants.

  • I will be Vice President, Engineering and will have responsibility for product design, technology and process development, quotations and developing our China sourcing strategy.
We will be sharing more information with you in the near future as we develop our business plan.

CME is sponsoring meetings with interested folks concerned about how to get and remain competitive within Canada. They are hosting meetings all across Canada. with various dates and locations, hopefully you will be able to attend a session and provide them with your thoughts and input. The importance is high, having just returned from Australia the Auzzies have now entered into a free trade agreement with the United States ... but more scary was at the Australian Manufacturing conference, in attendance were several companies from China and Korea who already see the need to adopt Lean Practices to improve their competitiveness ... as if, their current low cost country status was not enough of a challenge for North American Organizations.

To visit the web site the link is ... even if you visit just to read the position papers it is a good investment of time.
